Tough Hockey - Which NHL team during the 2000 playoffs would record 6 shots in a game?
The correct answer is 'Toronto Maple Leafs'
The leafs lost 3-0 to New Jersey in game 6 of the 2000 semi-finals. With the leafs facing elimination, the Leafs would manage only 3 quality scoring chances in the game, and would miss the net on each opportunity. Martin Brodeur only faced 6 shots; 3 in the first, 2 in the second, and only 1 in the third. Much of the credit goes to the Devils' defence, who kept the leafs from coming into the Devils' zone with the neutral zone trap, which forces teams to shoot the puck into the offensive zone instead of carring it. The fewest before the Leafs 6 shots was the Washington Capitals, who would only fire 7 shots on net in a 4-1 loss to Philadelphia on February 12, 1978.
