This is Super Bowl Quiz # 2, GOOD LUCK! You can head back to the main Super Bowl Quiz index, or try your luck at a random quiz.Super Bowl Question 1
Great While They Lasted (1970-1990) - This outstanding defensive back, a two-time Super Bowl winner, was in the Pro Bowl each season from 1980-1984.
The correct answer is 'Lester Hayes'
Lester Hayes was probably best known for prowling the Raiders' defensive backfield with his arms and legs covered with yellow stickum, the better to help intercept balls thrown his way. Chicago's Fencik won one Super Bowl and was in the 1980 and 1981 Pro Bowls. Pittsburgh's Donnie Shell was a four-time Super Bowl winner selected to five Pro Bowls ('78-'82). Dwight Hicks won two Super Bowls with the 49ers and played in the 1981-84 Pro Bowls.
Super Bowl Question 2
Famous Runners-Up - This football team made it to four consecutive Super Bowls in the early 1990s. Unfortunately they lost every time. Which team lost four straight Super Bowls?
The correct answer is 'Buffalo Bills'
The Bills were defeated by the Giants in 1991, the Redskins in 1992, and the Cowboys in 1993 and 1994. Despite never winning the big game, it was quite an achievement to reach four consecutive Super Bowls. No other team has reached three in a row.
Super Bowl Question 3
Journey to Super Bowl XL - In his first MVP season, the Seahawks' RB Shaun Alexander led the NFC with the most rushing yards. But do you know which Seattle player was the second-leading rusher for the Seahawks in the 2005 regular season?
The correct answer is 'Maurice Morris with 288 yards'
Morris, from the University of Oregon, played in all 16 regular season games, carried the ball 71 times, and had a 4.1 yards per carry average. Warrick, the former standout from Florida State University in his first year with the Seahawks, had only one rush for 5 yards.
Super Bowl Question 4
Super Bowl Quarterbacks - What did John Elway do that no previous Super Bowl quarterback had done?
The correct answer is 'All of these'
Every athlete dreams of going out on top, and few athletes have so earned the right to live the dream as Elway did when he retired after winning Super Bowl XXXIII. That was his fifth Super Bowl start, something no other quarterback had done before, and he had to endure the horrors of his first three starts to get to that point. Elway's Broncos lost those games by increasingly worse scores, and after their 55-10 drubbing by the 49ers in Super Bowl XXIV, some Denver fans actually rooted against their team ever playing for another title, just to spare the embarrassment on such a visible stage. Eight years later though, Elway and the Broncos had returned, and they won back to back Super Bowls against the Packers and the Falcons. Besides avenging his earlier losses, these games gave Elway the distinction of being the first QB to both win and lose consecutive Super Bowls. Fran Tarkenton and Jim Kelly had lost consecutive Super Bowls. Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, and Troy Aikman had won consecutive Super Bowls. But none before had done both.

Super Bowl Question 8
Superbowl XXXV - What was the final score of Superbowl XXXV?
The correct answer is '34-7'
The Ravens were only 3 point favorites in the game, but dominated the Giants to win by 27.
Super Bowl Question 9
Super Bowl Quarterbacks - I was the first quarterback to lead a team to a come-from-behind Super Bowl victory, and the first quarterback to collect three Super Bowl rings, even though I started in only one of those games. Who am I?
The correct answer is 'Earl Morrall'
Earl Morrall stepped in so masterfully for an injured Johnny Unitas in the 1968 season that he won NFL MVP honors for the year. Facing the New York Jets in the Super Bowl though, he was just 6/17 in passing, with three interceptions and 71 yards (with two of the completions, for 34 yards, coming on the Colts' opening drive) before being replaced by the ailing Unitas. Two years later however, Morrall came into the game when Unitas was injured midway through the second quarter and the Colts trailing 13-6. He played a fairly steady game and led the team to 10 points in the fourth quarter for a 16-13 win. During the Miami Dolphins' undefeated 1972 season, Morrall started the last nine games after Bob Griese was injured during the regular season, plus their divisional playoff game. Griese returned for the AFC championship and the Super Bowl that year, but Morrall collected his second Super Bowl ring as the Dolphins won Super Bowl VII. He remained with the team for Super Bowl VIII, again seeing no action, but becoming the first quarterback to get three rings.

Marcus Allen went 74 yds in the 1984 Super Bowl against the Redskins.
